Our goal is progress, not perfection

Sustainable business is a practice we choose every day. Though we will have landfill garbage, fill trucks with gas, and use electricity, we strive to continue to do better as technologies improve and our business grows.

Material Sourcing

To the extent that is feasible, our products are made from reclaimed, recycled, repurposed materials. We spend time collecting materials from estate sales, local buy nothing groups, residential renovation, and cull bins from box stores.

When materials must be purchased new, we strive to partner with and support local retailers and suppliers with a conscience. When purchasing materials, we prioritize materials that are:

  • Locally made or sourced
  • Non toxic
  • Plant based
  • Recyclable packaging
  • Companies striving for net zero practices or practice carbon offsetting.

Packing Materials

We use second-hand packing materials, often re-using peanuts, bubble wrap, excess boxes and paper from other shipments. Our stickers and tape we use to close boxes is also biodegradable and so are the seasonal ice packs we use to protect products.

When available, we also use sustainable packaging and to the naked eye our eco-friendly peanuts and foam look like plastic but are made from a natural starch that decomposes in water leaving no waste.

Carbon Offsetting

We’re teaming up with CarbonClick, a Certified B Corporation that helps consumers and businesses partner together to fight climate change.

At checkout, you can choose to make a small contribution which purchases carbon offsets that reduce the environmental impact of the carbon emissions related to your purchase. Voluntary carbon offsetting is a way to compensate for unavoidable carbon emissions, like fuel used to ship products or electricity. CarbonClick’s offsets fund forest restoration, tree planting, and renewable energy projects around the world.
